Uniform Policy
General:
Except for items sponsored by Dana Middle School, clothing must be in solid colors.
- No writing.
- No athletic, company names, logos or insignias.
- No designs or patterns such as flowers, checks, stripes, etc.
Tops:
All shirts and blouses must be white and have a collar.
- Ribbed-waist shirts are acceptable.
- Shirts and blouses must fit properly and cover midriff and chest.
Pants-shorts:
All pants/shorts/skorts must be navy blue.
- Pants must be fitted at waist, crotch, and length.
- Garments must be hemmed. No banding of pants legs.
- No seams are to be cut or slit (inner or outer seam.
- Shorts must not be more than 4" above the knee and may not extend below knee.
- Oversized clothing (larger than one size above regular size) may not be worn.
- No sweatpants, warm-ups, board shorts/pants, or nylon-type material.
- No jeans or denim overalls of any color.
- Navy blue corduroys are acceptable.
- Leggings or stretch pants are not to be worn.
Dresses/Shirts/Jumpers (Must be navy blue)
- Shorts, skits, skorts, and dresses/jumper length must not be shorter than 4" above the knee.
- No floor length skirts or dresses. Mid-calf skirts or dresses are acceptable.
- No clothing considered too revealing, too tight, or allowing undergarments to show.
Jackets/Outerwear
- Jackets and outerwear (sweatshirts and sweaters) must be plain (no writing, designs, patterms, team names, etc., except for Dana Middle School sponsored). No use of tape to cover logos.
- No plaid flannel shirts or jackets.
- Jackets or outwear will not be allowed to cover tops which are in violation of the uniform policy.
- T-shirts worn under uniform must be white.
- Shirts worn over uniform shirt or blouse are not acceptable.
- Jackets/outwear are not to be worn inside out.
Accessories:
- No sunglasses, hats, caps, bandanas, visors, hair-nets, or curlers of any kind.
- Earring-type jewelry may be worn only on the ear and no other parts of the body.
- Boys may not wear earrings.
- Coverings, such as Band-Aids, tape, putting earrings in backwards, etc., are not allowed.
- No initials on belt buckles other than one initial of the wearer. No insignias. Belt must be threaded through belt loops and not hang down.
- Extremes in hair style/color or makeup which are distracting to the educational environment, as determined by the school personnel, are not allowed.
- No heavy eye make-up. Jewelry/accessories that constitute safety hazard (i.e. heavy chains, studded apparel, large hoop earnings) may not be worn.
- Dana's cap and visor may be worn outside on sunny days.
Shoes:
Hard soles must be worn at all times. Toes and heels must be enclosed. Shoes must be laced or properly strapped.
Note: Articles of styles of clothing not specificlly discussed may be deemed inappropriate if it is determined that they are disruptive to the educational process, represent a safety hazard, considered to be gang related, or are not in compliance with the dress code policy.
Guidelines for Enforcing the Uniform Dress Code Policy:
- Student is sent to Uniform Dress Code Program Coordinator's office.
- Student must change into P.E. clothes for the rest of the school day.
- Student who repeat the violation will be sent to detention after school.
- Parents will be called and conferences will be set up for students who continue to violate the school's policy.
